A young woman from Kentucky died on one of the roads of this state following a head-on collision. Authorities pronounced the woman dead at the scene of the accident.
The driver of the other vehicle involved in this crash has not been located and was obviously not injured seriously enough to prevent the driver from running away from the scene of the accident. Police say the driver who fled was moving west on the road but, for reasons that police do not understand, crossed the centerline and slammed in to the vehicle of the woman who died. Police have not said whether the suspect that alcohol or drugs were a factor in this accident.
State Police, who are continuing to investigate this incident, are asking Kentucky residents to help locate the driver of the vehicle, as this driver left the scene of a fatal accident, which is a criminal offense in Kentucky. By all accounts, this driver is also at fault for the accident, which means the family of the victim is going to want to identify the driver so they can pursue compensation for pain and suffering and other expense and losses via a separate wrongful death lawsuit.
While there are many reasons why a person might go over the centerline on a two-lane road, there are no good excuses for doing so. Drivers simply must stay in their lanes of traffic at all times since, as in this case, crossing the centerline can lead to severe car accidents that cost the lives of Kentucky accidents. Victims of such accidents and their families should usually consider their legal options in such circumstances.
